Hello!
|
|
|
|
My name is Keith Smalley, a
40-something-year-old
Englishman, who had a dream
many years ago of owning and
running an outdoor activity
business. We (My wife Yulia,
me, and a bump who turned
out to be our now nearly
four-year-old daughter
Sasha) moved to Spain just
over four years ago after
visiting the area several
times.
The Costa del Sol and
Andalucia looked like one of
the best places on earth to
run our dream business. Some
of the most fantastic
countryside and mountains
you will find anywhere are
within easy reach of the
coast, usually unseen by the
majority of tourists. |

Millions of tourists and visitors
enjoy the area every year, and
increasing numbers now want to see
and do more on their holiday and in
their spare time. The Costa del Sol
has many things to offer, and of
course there is nothing wrong with
sand, sea and sangria - we quite
enjoy all of that sometimes too!
What we didn't realise was just how
difficult it would be to start this
kind of business in Spain, and most
importantly, to do it properly and
legally. It took FOUR years - four
years of banging my head against
brick walls. I called every lawyer I
could find and only got answers
like, “you need a special license
from the Spanish government of
Andalucia”, “they don't issue them
anymore”, “they don't give them to
foreigners”, and, “you've got no
chance”. They were the kind of
responses I got week after week,
month after month, year after year.
I'm the kind of person who NEVER
gives in and the more they told me I
would never do it, the more
determined I got. “One day I will do
it”, I told them… over and over
again.
We did it! We got there! We got a
license! So, six months after
getting the “Holy Grail” (well, the
license to operate), we started the
business. And… this web site is
where we are today!
First, we dared to be different.
There are buggy safaris, and there
are jeep and 4x4 safaris, but we
thought long and hard about this –
we did have four years to plan
things as you already understand.
If you run a buggy safari you’re
limited to who can go… Granny may
love to see this stunning place, but
maybe not harnessed into a buggy,
bouncing around 3 inches off the
ground!
If you run a 4x4 safari, you’re also
limiting things… Granny and the
grandkids may have a lovely time sat
in the comfort of a Land Rover, but
the young adults would have a lot
more fun strapped into an off-road
buggy and driving themselves!
The Answer? Simple – combine the
two! We also give everyone two-way
radios so that they can even talk to
each other - some in the Land Rover
and some in the buggies! A great day
out for all the family, and of
course even Granny can drive a buggy
if she wants to too!
So there we are… I hope this gives
you a little understanding about us
and our safari business. Please have
a look at the photos, videos and
further information on our site, and
don't hesitate to ask any questions
via our contact page or telephone
number.
Maybe one day soon, you, your family
and friends will join us for
something a little different on the
Costa Del Sol.
We would love to see you and to show
you this amazing place… called
Andalucia.
Thanks for reading, and daring to be
different! Hope to see you soon,
Keith. |
